Biography:

Maxime da CRUZ is a professor and researcher at the University of Abomey-Calavi. He has held several positions of responsibility at the university. Former First Vice-Rector of the University of Abomey-Calavi in charge of Academic Affairs and University Research from 2012 to 2017, former Head of the National Centre for Applied Linguistics from 31 March 2003 to 6 February 2012, Director of Publication of LANGAGE & DEVENIR, the Revue du Centre National de Linguistique Appliquée from 31 March 2003 to 6 February 2012, former Deputy Head of the Department of Language and Communication Sciences at the University of Abomey-Calavi, in charge of Academic Affairs from April 1996 to February 2000, he is the current Rector of the University of Abomey-Calavi.

Current Research and Recent Achievements:

He has received several national and international honors: Officer of the International Order of the CAMES Academic Palms (Ouagadougou, 27 May 2018), Knight of the International Order of the CAMES Academic Palms (2016), Knight of the National Order of Benin (2012), Officer of the Togo Academic Palms (February 2014), Excellence in Business Leadership, awarded by US - World Confederation of Business, Category Higher Education awarded in Venice, Italy on 26 April 2014.

Experiences:
  • Participation in the working meeting organized by IIEP-UNESCO and DAAD on "Discussion of the follow-up activities of the joint learning courses on external quality assurance for West African countries (September 2013 to May 2014) on 12 November 2014 in Dakar (Senegal);

  • Participation in the''Regional Consultation on the Future of Higher Education in UEMOA Countries'' organized by the UEMOA Commission from 14 to 16 October 2014 in Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso)

  • Participation in the XIth International Symposium of University Professors (''The Idea of University - Investing in Knowledge in Europe and for Europe'') organized with the support of the Council of the European Union at the Pontifical Lateran University - Vatican City (Rome-Italy) from 1 to 4 October 2014

  • Participation in the UNESCO-DAAD seminar organized as part of the blended learning training on "External Quality Assurance in Higher Education" from 12 to 16 May 2014 at Félix Houphouët-Boigny University, Abidjan-Cocody (Côte d'Ivoire)
