As the current Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Community Service of Sultan Qaboos University (SQU), Prof. Dr. Salim Hamood Al Harthi is responsible for its nine colleges, seven support centers, the University Hospital, Main Library. Physics, Mathematics, and Nanotechnology are his areas of expertise. Prof. Dr. Salim is responsible for the design of SQU’s 20 Strategic Plan Projects 2021-2025 and the implementation of the Operational Plan 2021-2025. He is leading 52 teams in different aspects of academic development and 24 committees on undergraduate academic affairs transformation, program review, and accreditation. He manages the development of many university policies, guidelines, procedures, and proposals, and serves as Rapporteur of the University Council and Academic Council. At the national level, he worked as a team member of the Innovation Hub Project: Concepts, Model, Processes and Resources Requirements of Oman’s Research Council and served on two committees to establish the Muscat Innovation Center. He has been chairing a committee to establish ties with Global Entrepreneurship Monitor in Europe, and served as a member of the National Nonionizing Radiation Committee, National Disaster Recovery Committee, and Think Tank ministerial team for COVID-19. He has been a major contributor to research internationalization and acted as a focal point for collaboration between SQU and KREMS University (Austria) in the field of biotechnology and Toyo University (Japan) in bionanoelectronics. He is the country’s representative to the international nano-olympiad committee.
