Prof. Md. Abul Kalam Kalam is currently a Professor in Faculty of Engineering and IT at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), Australia. Previously he worked as Professor in Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Malaya from 2008 to 2021. His educational background is in Mechanical Engineering with research specialization in Internal-combustion engines, Biodiesel/Biofuel, Lubricant testing, and Engine Tribology. Prof Kalam obtained his undergraduate degree from KUET, Bangladesh, and his Master & Ph.D. (2008) from the University of Malaya, Malaysia. Prof Kalam’s name appeared in the list of “Highly Cited Researchers” in 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021” in recognition of ranking among the top 1% researchers for the most cited documents in engineering by Web of Science and Clarivate Analytics. He received ‘The University of Malaya's excellence service award in 2017 & 2018 and Malaysia's research star award (ministry of higher education) in 2018 and 2019. He has 15 years of teaching and 20 years of research experience. He has supervised 46 postgraduate students (Ph.D. 11, Master by research 25, Master by mixed mode 11). Based on the web of science, his publication, citations, and h-index are 278, 13977, and 69, respectively. He has been placed in a research center named School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at UTS, Sydney, Australia, where he is engaged in research related to environmental engineering, such as functional additives for producing low-carbon fuels, bio-lubricant development, and testing.
