Prof. Dr. Altuğ Özpineci obtained his B.Sc. degree in 1997 from Middle East Technical University, Ankara, Türkiye in physics and also mathematics as a double major. He studied for his M.Sc. degree at Bilkent University, Ankara, Türkiye on condensed matter physics. For his master's thesis, he studied the quantized thermal conductance of nanowires. After receiving his M.Sc. Degree in 1999, he went to Physics Department of Middle East Technical University, where he received his Ph.D. degree in 2001 in particle physics.

In 2001, for his post-doctoral studies, he went to The Abdus Salam International Center for Theoretical Physics (ICTP), Trieste, Italy, where he continued his research until 2004. In 2004, he moved to INFN, Bari Section, Bari, Italy, where he worked on radiative decays of D mesons. Prof. Dr. Altug Ozpineci returned to Middle East Technical University as an assistant professor in 2005, where he continued his research. In 2012-13, he was a visiting scientist at IFIC, Valencia, Spain.

In 2006 he received “Outstanding Young Scientist Award” from Turkish Academy of Sciences, in years 2009 and 2010 he received “Young Scientist Success Award” from Middle East Technical University, in 2012 he received “Outstanding Young Scientist” award from Science Heroes Association, and in 2015, he received “COMSTECH Award in Physics.”

Dr. Ozpineci is a member of Science Academy.
