Prof. Ahmed Kamal is the Senior Professor Emeritus at BITS Pilani Hyderabad Campus. He graduated from Osmania University, Hyderabad, with a Master's and Ph.D. degree from the Aligarh Muslim University. In the recent past, he was the Pro-Vice Chancellor of Jamia Hamdard University, New Delhi. He also served as the Outstanding Scientist and Acting Director of CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT), Hyderabad as well as the Project Director of the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), Hyderabad, and was instrumental in the establishment of this institute. He has published over 560 research articles with over 16,000 citations and an h-index of 56. He has been involved in multidisciplinary research programs like organic synthesis, medicinal and green chemistry, and bio-catalysis, designed and synthesized a large number of new molecules as potential anticancer compounds that fetched him several patents (over 400), five of his US patents have been licensed to IndUS Pharmaceuticals, USA.

He is the recipient of several research awards like the CSIR Young Scientist Award in Chemical Sciences, the Medal from the Chemical Research Society of India, the Ranbaxy Research Award in the field of Pharmaceutical Sciences, the OPPI Scientist Award from the Organization of Pharmaceutical Producers of India, and Most Outstanding Researcher Award in the field of Chemistry/Bioorganic Chemistry by Careers 360. He is an Editorial Advisory Board member for the journals like RSC Med. Chem., ChemMedChem (Wiley-VCH), and J. Saudi Chem. Soc. (Elsevier). He is also a Fellow of the National Academy of Sciences (FNASc) and the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC).
