Biography:

 

Prof. Bilal Haider Abbasi is a tenured professor and accomplished researcher, has significantly contributed to biotechnology. His achievements include being selected for the prestigious Le- Studium Research Fellowship at Université de Tours, France, twice, in 2018-2019 and from May to December 2023. One of Dr. Abbasi's areas of expertise lies in medicinal plant biotechnology. His research in this field aims to harness the potential of medicinal plants for developing novel drugs and therapies. His expertise has been recognized by his inclusion in the Top 2% Scientist list by Stanford University in 2020. Dr. Abbasi's commitment to research is further exemplified by his establishment of the plant cell culture lab at the Department of Biotechnology, Quaid-i-Azam University. He has received numerous accolades, such as the Performance Based Award from Quaid-i-Azam University in 2021 and 2014, a Gold Medal for Biotechnology from the Pakistan Academy of Sciences in 2016, and the Best Young Researcher Gold Medal from Quaid-i-Azam University in 2014. Dr. Abbasi's research excellence is evident from his extensive publication record of 190 research articles with an impressive impact factor of 691 and 4,939 citations on the Web of Science and 8,650 citations on Google Scholar. Dr. Abbasi has supervised 16 Ph.D. and 90 MPhil students. He has also secured six research grants, including one international grant. He is also a member of esteemed scientific organizations like the Asian Federation of Biotechnology (since 2022) and the Pakistan Academy of Sciences (since 2014) and the Pakistan Biological Safety Association (since 2016).
