Professor Dr. Ahmad Zaharin Aris, CEnv, FAPM, FASc, a distinguished hydrochemistry and environmental forensics researcher, has made substantial contributions to Malaysia's environmental and health policies. Internationally acknowledged, his accomplishments include formulating extensive chemical databases for environmental fingerprinting and laying the groundwork for environmental forensics. Aris' accolades encompass the Top Research Scientist Malaysia award in 2019, a finalist for the Zayed International Prize for Young Scientists in Environmental Sustainability, and recognition as a World Top 2% scientist from 2020 to 2022. He was the Universiti Putra Malaysia's Vice Chancellor Fellowship Award recipient in 2012 and 2023, a finalist for the 2016 National Young Scientist Award, and became the youngest Fellow of both the Academy of Sciences Malaysia and the Academy of Professors Malaysia. In addition, Aris clinched the Malaysia APEC Science Prize for Innovation, Research, and Education in 2019 and 2022, also representing Malaysia in this prestigious ASPIRE award. Presently, he is a Professor in Hydrochemistry and the Director of the International Institute of Aquaculture and Aquatic Sciences at Universiti Putra Malaysia. As an esteemed speaker, Aris has delivered over 85 keynote addresses domestically and abroad. As the Editor of notable journals including Scientific Reports, Environmental Geochemistry and Health, and Journal of Hazardous Materials, his focus remains on "Bridging the Gap of Science and the 'Art of Deductions'". His active committee involvement has facilitated the successful translation of academic outcomes into actionable policy directives.
