Professor Dr. Khalid Mahmood Khan, presently President of Pakistan Academy of Sciences (PAS), is a very experienced scientist and educationist with a specialization in Planning and Management. Prof. Khalid Khan attained his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the UK and Post Doc in Agriculture Biotechnology from the USA. During his professional career, Prof. Khalid Khan has held very prestigious positions like Vice Chancellor of Agriculture University, Chairman of Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF), Islamabad, Chairman of Pakistan Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (PCSIR), and Director of Research, University of Agriculture Faisalabad, where currently he is serving as Professor Emeritus. Prof. Khalid Khan has been on governing bodies of various educational institutions and R&D organizations across the country. He is Secretary General of the Network of Academy of Sciences in Islamic Countries (NASIC) and has arranged important conferences in Islamic countries on current topics of Science and Education. He has been President of the Pakistan Society of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry and a Member of the National Commission of Biotechnology. He has 51 research publications in journals of international repute as well as four books and many popular articles to his credit. He was conferred with Sitara-e-Imtiaz by the President of Pakistan in acknowledgment of his outstanding and meritorious achievements in the field of science, agriculture, and education.
