Biography:

Zuhair S. Khan was born on July 12, 1972. He received his Ph.D. degree in Energy Science & Technology with specialization in Advanced Energy Materials & Surface Engineering from Kyoto University, Japan and M.S Engineering degree in Materials Physics and Nanotechnology from the Linkoping University, Sweden. He currently works as Professor at the US-Pak Center for Advanced Studies in Energy (USPCAS-E), National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST). Prior to joining the NUST, he worked as Senior Research Fellow at the Chinese Academy of Sciences from 09/2010 to 08/2012. Dr. Zuhair has a diverse experience in teaching, research and academic administration in the capacity of departmental Head and the Dean. He is a founding director of Advanced Energy Materials Lab at the USPCAS-E and he has been a Resource Person from Pakistan on Energy, Environment and Ecosystems (3E) Nexus Initiative for Sustainable Development in Asian Countries. Dr. Zuhair has travelled across the three continents including Europe, Asia, North America and has got good experiences of working and interaction with students/scholars of countries such as Japan, S. Korea, Sweden, Germany, Turkey, Iran, United States, Saudi Arabia, China, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Indonesia and Malaysia, etc.

Current Research and Recent Achievements:

He has given many contributed talks and seminars, served as a reviewer for various scientific publications. He has authored and co-authored over 60 journal/conference publications and carries a diverse experience in different aspects of Advanced Materials and Surface Engineering.

Dr. Zuhair worked as HoD & Dean in a funded project worth $ 20 Mill. Execution/implementation of the project has resulted in the establishment of US-Pak Center for Advanced Studies in Energy (USPCAS-E) at NUST. Under his academic leadership, Center has produced 100+ quality graduates with MS degrees in Energy Systems Engineering, Thermal Energy Engineering and Electrical Power Engineering. Other project millstones executed included the development of 10 research labs with a funding of $ 7.0 Mill, graduate/exchange visits to the partnering US universities, award of 30 energy centric applied research grant projects, development of 50+ graduate courses, solarization of building/parking lot, etc.
