Biography:

 

Professor Mohammad S. Mubarak received his B.Sc. (1976) and M.Sc. (1978) degrees in Chemistry from The University of Jordan. He then earned his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Indiana University, Bloomington, USA, in 1982, under the supervision of Professor Dennis G. Peters. Professor Mubarak has had a distinguished career at The University of Jordan, where he currently serves as a Professor of Chemistry. He has also held significant administrative roles, including Chairman of the Department of Chemistry and Vice Dean of the Faculty of Science for several years. Since 2009, he has additionally been an Adjunct Professor of Chemistry at Indiana University, Bloomington.

Professor Mubarak’s research program is broadly based on synthetic organic chemistry, particularly the synthesis of compounds with expected biological activity, medicinal chemistry, natural products, drug design and discovery, and electrochemistry. He is a prolific author, with over 360 research papers and reviews in peer-reviewed journals, and has contributed chapters to specialized books. He has successfully supervised 40 theses and dissertations and serves on the editorial boards of several scientific journals. His significant contributions to research have been recognized with the Highly Cited Researcher Award in Cross-Field in both 2022 and 2023.
