Biography:

 

Dr. Sajjad Ahmad is a Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Construction at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), where he has been a faculty member for 19 years. He also served as the Department Chair for six years (2017–2023). Dr. Ahmad earned his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of Western Ontario, Canada, his M.E. in Water Resources from the Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand, and his B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from the University of Engineering & Technology, Lahore, Pakistan.

A Fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and the Environment and Water Resources Institute (EWRI), Dr. Ahmad's research focuses on hydrology and climate change impacts on river flows, urban stormwater management, floods, droughts, and remote sensing applications. His work also addresses issues such as urban heat island effects, the water-energy nexus, water conservation, and urban irrigation demand. He has published 130 papers in peer-reviewed journals and 114 conference papers and book chapters, with his work receiving over 12,000 citations (h-index 64).

Dr. Ahmad has supervised 9 Ph.D. and 30 Master's students and is a recipient of prestigious awards, including the National Science Foundation CAREER Award and the Harry Reid Silver State Research Award.
