Prof. Mohammad Shakir is an Inorganic Chemist having teaching and research experience of about 37 years. Guided 21 Ph.D. and 07 M. Phil students. Received Certificate of recognition from International Centre for diffraction data, USA for significant contribution to Powder diffraction file-2018. Awarded with Prestigious Pentagon Excellence Award, 2019 in Education by Zakir Hussain Foundation, Aligarh. Member of a number of National Scientific Bodies and American Chemical Society (ACS). Member of important University bodies like Board of Studies, Academic Council, Executive Council and University Court.

Prof. Mohammad Shakir has also discharged various important administrative responsibilities such as Dean, Faculty of Science, A.M.U (2017-19), Chairman, Department of Chemistry (2015-18), A.M.U. Chairman, Department of Remote Sensing and GIS Applications, A.M.U. (2017-18), Coordinator, Centre of Professional courses, A.M.U. (2011-19), Provost, M. H. Hall, A.M.U., (2011- 2012), Election Officer, A.M.U Student’s Union.

Prof. Mohammad Shakir has represented Aligarh Muslim University as a delegate in several National and International Conferences/Seminars. A few noteworthy ones are: 2019- Keynote Speaker and chaired the session at 2nd International Conference on Material Science and Engineering, Cairo, Egypt; 2013- Speaker at 2nd International Conference and Exhibition on Materials Science and Engineering, Las Vegas, USA; 1997- Speaker at ‘The 7th International Conference on the chemistry of selenium and tellurium’, Institute fur Anorganische Chemie, RWTH, Aachen University of Technology, Germany; 1993- Speaker at the International Conference on ‘Energy storage and applied photochemistry’, Ain Shams University, Cairo Egypt.

Prof. Mohammad Shakir had been Visiting Scientist to Federal Republic of Germany under (DAAD) program during 1993-98, Visiting Professor to Toyohashi University of Technology Toyohashi, (JAPAN), June-Nov., 2000. Visiting Professor to Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia under United Nations Development Program, Oct.,1997-July,1999. Visiting Professor to Chemistry Department, King Saud University, Riyadh, K.S.A., June 3-10, 2011, Feb 15-23, 2013, 2013- 2014 for collaborative research.
