Md. Saiful Islam is a professor in the Institute of Information and Communication Technology (IICT) of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). He obtained his B.Sc. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from BUET, Dhaka in 1989; M. Sc. in Computer Science and Engineering from Shanghai University, China in 1997 and Ph. D in Electrical and Electronic Engineering degree from BUET in 2008. Presently, he is serving as a Director of IICT, BUET. He has designed, coordinated and implemented various IT projects at national levels like smartcard system of Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training, XI class admission and registration system (about 1.5 million students) of all Education Boards of Bangladesh, etc. and published many articles in peer reviewed research journals. He has been actively associated with AI3/ SOI Asia project of Keio University, Japan since 2005 and contributing positively towards the e-learning/distance education programs of BUET. He also presented his research work in many international conferences. His main research interest includes optical network, wireless communication, software engineering, and cybersecurity. In his long academic career, he has supervised about 40 postgraduate students which results the solution of many real-life ICT problems.

1.Asi@Connect Project “Distributed and Cloud-based Network Defense System for NRENs (DCNDS)” funded by TEIN* Cooperation Center and the European Union (A joint collaboration of BUET, Bangladesh &USM, Malaysia ( June 2018- July 2020). Associate with it as principal co-investigator.

2.Asi@connect “Workshop on Advance Network/System Administration and Security” )” funded by TEIN* Cooperation Center and the European Union and will be held on 15-17 October 2019 at BUET. Associated with it as Principal investigator.

3.A e-learning partner project “School on Internet (SOI), Asia” with Keio University, Japan (2005 – till to date). Associated with it as Coordinator.
