Dr. Kazem has received his BSc, MSc in electrical engineering from University of Technology (UOT), Baghdad-Iraq also, Ph.D. from Newcastle University (NCL), UK. In 1995 he joined Al-Mamon College, and in 1996 he was appointed as Assistant Lecturer in UOT, and from 1997 to 2002 he was a Lecturer and Program Coordinator with the Faculty of Engineering, Al Tahady University, Libya. In 2002-present, Hussein became a Lecturer, Assistant Professor and Associate Professor with the Sohar University, Oman. Also, he is currently an academic visitor at NCL-UK and a visiting scientist at the National University of Malaysia.

Dr. Kazem is involved in academics and research, since the last 23 years and is associated with a professional organization and engineering societies as a member, researcher, editor and reviewer such as IEEE, IET, Elsevier, IAENG, WREN, Nature, and WSEAS. He organized and participated in many conferences, symposiums, and workshops. He has authored several publications, including more than 160 papers published in scientific journals and conferences, some 40 invited talks, ten chapters, and seven books. He is the winner of the Sohar University Vice-Chancellor award for Research and Industry. Also, He is the winner of some national and international awards: the “Golden Medal Award”-Pecipta’13 Malaysia, “Outstanding Renewable Energy Lab Award”-World Renewable Energy Congress XIII, 3 – 8th 2014 London, United Kingdom, “Renewable & Sustainable Energy Pioneer Award”-World Renewable Energy Congress VX, 2016 Jakarta, Indonesia, and “Special Award of Excellence in Renewable Energy Research”-World Renewable Energy Congress XVIII, 2018 Kingston, United Kingdom. He is an inventor and co-inventor of 3 patents. He had supervised and graduated more than 50 BSc, 7 MSc, and 3 Ph.D. Hussein is chairman of the Renewable Energy & Sustainable Technology Research Group in Oman. He is the team leader of Generation & Storage taskforce in Oman Renewable Energy Strategic Program.

His current researches interests are in the area of Photovoltaic’s, Renewable Energy, Power Electronics, Power Quality and Electrical Power System. His recent research achievement is the highest global efficiency for a novel Photovoltaic/Thermal system. His recent award achievement is “Special Award of Excellence in Renewable Energy Research”-World Renewable Energy Congress XVIII, 30 July – 3 August 2018 Kingston, United Kingdom.

Hussein has been involved in the field of electrical engineering, solar and renewable energy for more than twenty years. His main contributions are in electrical power system, standalone and grid-connected photovoltaic systems, solar radiation and systems modeling, solar water heating system, solar desalination, combined photovoltaic thermal or hybrid collector and solar/wind hybrid system.
