Dr. Mohammed Al Badi received the B.Sc. degree in electrical and computer engineering from Sultan Qaboos University, Muscat, Oman in 2000; the M.Sc. degree in electrical engineering from Aachen University of Technology, Germany in 2003; the Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from University of Waterloo, Canada in January 2010. He is currently working as Associate Professor and the Head of Electrical & Computer Engineering Department at Sultan Qaboos University. During his sabbatical in 2016/2017, he worked as a visiting Associate Professor at University of Waterloo, Canada. His research interests include renewable energy, distributed generation, power quality, demand side management, power system operation and planning, and power system economics. In these fields, he published over 70 peer-reviewed international journal and conference articles. Dr. Al Badi has carried out several industry-funded research projects related to the above-mentioned fields. His research funding agencies include but not limited to Sultan Qaboos University, Oman Electricity Transmission Company, The Research Council, Majan Electricity Company, Rural Areas Electricity Company, and Rent-A-Port Energy, Belgium. He is an associate editor in the International Journal of Electrical Engineering Education (IJEEE) and The Journal of Engineering research. He is a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and a Professional Engineer of Oman Society of Engineers (OSE).

His research interests include renewable energy, distributed generation, power quality, demand side management, power system operation and planning, and power system economics. In these fields, he published over 70 peer-reviewed international journal and conference articles.

Currently working as Associate Professor and the Head of the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering at Sultan Qaboos University.
