Sultan Qaboos University in Oman hosts the 4th round of STEP for 4 days in December, 2018. Although the themes of STEP Forum will include the Mustafa Prize categories; nanoscience and nanotechnology, information and communication science and technology, life and medical science and technology, as well as all areas of science and technology, organizers are now focusing on the subcategories of these main fields, like ‘water, health and energy’.

According to Dr. Rassoul Dinarvand, the representative of MSTF to the 4th round of STEP, this symposium is held in Iran every two year. The first round was held in Iran, the second in Malaysia, the third in Iran and now the fourth will be held at one of the high-ranking universities in Oman.

Sultan Qaboos University opened in Muscat, the capital of Oman, in 1986, when there were only 500 students. There are now more than 7,000. It is situated in a valley beneath the Oman Mountains and is the only public university in the country.

The institution originally had five colleges, but there are now nine in total. These include medicine, engineering, agriculture, education, science, arts, commerce and economics, law and nursing.

Between 2010 and 2015, the university recruited students from 38 countries, while academics hailed from 69 nations. The institution also collaborates with universities across the world; it has agreements with universities in Asia, Europe, Australasia, North America and South America.

The university has seven core values as professionalism, excellence, commitment, integrity, loyalty, collaboration and equity.

The 4th STEP symposium is scheduled to benefit wide range of audience at Sultan Qaboos University. There are going to be meetings between scientists and investors, and also for decision-makers in Oman.
