Naweed Syed, Scientific Director, Alberta Children’s Hospital Research Institute, gave lecture on the study of pain which includes physical and emotional dimensions elaborating the serious symptoms of bad pains with chronic source that even can be sign of CD.

Although there have been efforts for years to block the transmission of pain channel to the brain, it was not possible due to the complex elements influencing. he then proposed AGN 203818 as an efficient finding in this field.

He also pointed out challenges like environmental factors, stress, life experiences, genetic makeup or injury. Therefore, as a solution he highlighted the role of the physicians to be the link and translate the patients’ sufferings among laboratory and clinic, then to use the reports for future research and prevention of them.

Mohammad Al-Qudah, Chairman of Physiology Department at Jordan University of Science and Technology, then focused on neurotrophins. He declared the relation between BDNF and inflammation.

Darakhshan Haleem, professor of Neuroscience at ICCBS, gave lecture on chronic pain, such as low back pain and osteoarthritis as prominent causes of disability worldwide. This is while, females are having a higher prevalence at all ages compared to males. Meanwhile, she continued with the inhibition of pain signals by morphine and endogenous peptides.

Ayeesha Kamal, Neurologist practicing in Karachi, at the STEP5 presented her talk on the advances in stroke and the steps taken to influence its treatment, specifically by Changing International Epidemiology for NCD.

According to her, stroke is not mainly a disease for the female or male, so more attention is needed to control it. Therefore, more awareness for scientists and educating patients are mentioned as important factors. “Public health and showy investment” are suggested as solutions to tackle the NCDs and CDs.

She mentioned the high expenses and time as two challenges affecting the level productivity in pharmacy.

During the discussion panel, it was highlighted that prevention should start in the living environment due to the fact that diseases sometimes get transmitted not just by traditional vectors, but by the atmosphere, just like stress which can spread all around.

The critical point is to prevent the disease through changing the life style and educate the public. There is not a magical bullet to overcome the diseases and they should be treated in individual ways.
