STEP5, a platform for discussion of contemporary trends and innovations

MSTF Media reports:

Muhammad Iqbal Choudhary released the following message in the wake of the 5th round of Science and Technology Exchange Program (STEP) in Islamic countries to highlight the importance of this event and welcome all the academicians, practitioners and industry personnel attending the event.

It is a great pleasure to welcome all the attendees of the fifth Science and Technology Exchange Program (STEP5) on “cutting edge pharmaceutical approaches to meet the emerging health challenges of CDs and NCDs, with an emphasis on female scientists’ contribution”, at the Dr. Panjwani Center for Molecular Medicine and Drug Research (International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences, University of Karachi). Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) kill 41 million people annually, equivalent to 71% of all deaths globally.

Each year, 15 million people died from a NCD between the age of 30 and 69 years. Over 85% of these “premature” deaths occur in low- and middle-income countries. Communicable diseases, such as HIV/AIDS, malaria, tuberculosis, and hepatitis, are also imposing a major economy burden to low- and middle-income countries. There are, however, many health care professionals working to develop strategies against communicable and non-communicable diseases all around the globe. The fifth round of STEP in February 2019 will provide a platform for academicians, practitioners and industry personnel – globally to discuss on contemporary trends and innovations in interventional strategies of communicable and non-communicable diseases (CDs and NCDs) to help find a solution.

On behalf of the Organizing Committee, I welcome you to our country and wish you a successful conference.

PROF. DR. M. IQBAL CHOUDHARY,

H. I., S. I., T.I.

Director ICCBS
